CLSG keeps learning broad before pupils specialise. Years 7 and 8 study arts, humanities, languages, sciences and technology, with independent learning projects. At GCSE, pupils study English, mathematics and the sciences alongside a modern foreign language and humanities subject. Sixth-form choices span arts, languages, sciences, humanities and the EPQ.
The school lists almost 140 clubs, teams and societies, from debating, robotics and chess to music, drama, STEM and trips. Pupils can create activities, while the joint CLS-CLSG iGEM team uses school laboratories and teacher guidance for synthetic-biology projects. The combination gives student-led interests a visible place alongside the academic timetable.
The 11+ route is staged. Applicants register online and sit Cambridge Select Insight in numerical, verbal and non-verbal skills; successful candidates then take English and mathematics papers before a visit and interview. CLSG publishes separate 16+ arrangements, with bursary and scholarship applications alongside admissions.
