Cheltenham Ladies’ College is a girls’ day and boarding school for ages 11 to 18, built on a long tradition of women’s education. Its current language centres on curiosity, courage and compassion.
Academic life runs from Lower College to the Sixth Form, with more than 30 subjects and a choice between A levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. There are no fixed option blocks. History is taught through enquiry and debate, supported by lectures, societies and trips.
The estate combines heritage buildings with specialist spaces. The Health and Fitness Centre has sports halls, a climbing wall, swimming pool, squash courts and gym; the Parabola Arts Centre supports drama, dance and talks; and the Fauconberg Wing houses art, design, engineering, printmaking and photography facilities. Houses provide shared spaces.
CLC’s co-curricular programme includes music, drama, sport, outdoor education and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, from kayaking and sailing to mountain biking and walking. For Sixth Form entry, applicants register in Year 11 and attend an assessment day with subject papers, adaptive tests, interview and group activity. Applicants whose first language is not English submit a UKiset profile.
