Cheltenham College

Since 1841, Cheltenham College has developed as a senior community where academic work, houses, sport and the arts share the same setting. The College now serves pupils from 13 to 18 within a co-educational day and boarding community, while Cheltenham Prep provides the younger stages. That structure gives the senior years a clear identity without separating them from the wider campus.

The curriculum begins broadly in the Third Form, with modern languages, three sciences, Latin, Computing, leadership, public speaking and a Foundation Project Qualification. GCSE and IGCSE choices lead into A levels, the EPQ and, where available, BTEC or Cambridge Technical courses. Subject choices are arranged to give pupils room to build a programme around their interests rather than fitting every student into the same blocks.

The week extends well beyond lessons. Sport, music, drama, service, societies and clubs sit alongside the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Monday activities include cooking, debating, music technology and sport, while houses bring boarders and day pupils into contact with resident staff and a wider programme of activity.

Admissions focus on whether a pupil can take part fully in the academic and co-curricular life on offer. Sixth Form entry normally includes an academic threshold, with discretion for individual circumstances, while the assessment, interview and timetable requirements for other ages are tied to the relevant entry point.
