Cheadle Hulme School

Cheadle Hulme School grew from the work of free-thinking philanthropists who founded it in 1855. The original ambition was inclusive co-education and preparation for life beyond school, and the present 3-to-18 community still connects those ideas with a large campus, a Grade II listed main building and values centred on integrity, contribution and compassion.

Senior and Sixth Form study is broad but gives students room to shape a direction. Alongside A levels and BTEC, the Plus 1 option and Pathways bring in industry speakers, placements, volunteering and other links with university and employment. Academic work is therefore connected with practical experience and with the wider CHS community rather than kept apart from it.

Sport, music, performing arts, STEM and debating create a busy life beyond lessons. Recreational sport sits alongside competitive teams, specialist coaching, an indoor pool and an on-site physiotherapist. Languages, technical theatre, academic clubs and house activities add quieter and more collaborative ways to take part, so pupils can find a place whether their strength is performance, competition or making things.

Senior entry uses online tests in mathematics, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, with creative writing, interview and a current-school reference also contributing. Sixth Form applicants follow a separate route involving an application, interview, predicted grades and a school report. The process is direct, with the requirements tied to the year group and course being considered.
