At Red Rock in Dawlish, a small mixed setting supports 11 to 16-year-olds who are struggling in mainstream education, with short-term placements built around resilience, respect and opportunity. Most students remain connected to a partner school throughout.
The partner school shares the work to be completed, and Chances builds a bespoke package around individual need. Subject learning sits beside personal development, practical skills and qualifications for the next stage of education or employment. Mixed-ability groups, one-to-one work and focus groups allow the provision to stay small and responsive.
English includes reading time and literacy intervention; science covers biology, chemistry and physics through investigation. SMART targets are agreed with the partner school and reviewed through regular assessments during the placement. Transport arrangements support the practical delivery of these referrals.
