Buckswood School

Buckswood's story began near Crawley in 1933, when it was established for children whose parents worked abroad. After wartime moves and a later revival as an international school, it settled at Broomham Hall near Hastings. The sixteenth-century manor and its 43 acres now provide the setting for day pupils and boarders from different countries to study together in English.

The academic offer is designed for pupils who may need a focused route through the senior years. A one-year GCSE programme can lead into Sixth Form, while A levels and the International Baccalaureate provide further options. The GCSE pathway includes subjects such as business, geography, digital literacy and games, with the senior programme combining classroom study and preparation for the next qualification.

Boarding gives the international character a practical shape. Homework support, organised activities and weekend trips are built around house life, while riding stables and regular sport add a physical dimension to the week. Pupils from different backgrounds share the same routines, which makes the residence programme part of the education rather than simply an accommodation option.

Applications are made directly to Buckswood. The route includes an online application, academic reports and references, with international pupils completing a placement test where appropriate. Senior management reviews the information before an offer is made, and boarding arrangements include study time, sport, social activity and planned weekends. The result is a compact residential school with several routes through the senior years.
