Bryanston was founded in 1928 and developed into a co-educational boarding school on its Dorset estate near Blandford Forum. Its history describes pupils shaping the grounds through practical work, including the Greek Theatre still in use today. Girls first joined in 1972, completing the move to co-education under the next headship.
Boarding remains central to daily life. Bryanston describes family-style houses with junior and senior arrangements that change as pupils grow older. The programme provides pastoral support from breakfast to lights-out, while shared meals in the central dining hall bring pupils together beyond their own houses.
The senior route includes A levels, the International Baccalaureate and CTECs in the Sixth Form. Year 9 assessment can include a current-school reference, CAT4 and Imagine Day, where applicants take part in problem-solving, communication games and puzzles. Sixth Form applications are made during Year 11.
