Brockwood Park School

Brockwood Park School was founded by Jiddu Krishnamurti in 1969 as an international boarding school in the Hampshire countryside. Its identity is built around learning without comparison, punishment or reward, and around students and teachers enquiring together. The school is small, fully boarding and welcomes students from 14 to 19, creating a residential community rather than a conventional day-school pattern.

The curriculum is assembled with the student. Academic courses include computer science, humanities, global issues, science and mathematics, while hands-on options range from photography and pottery to graphic design, woodwork and life skills in the kitchen or garden. English teaching is tailored to each student's level, moving from vocabulary and pronunciation to literature, drama and poetry as appropriate.

Students can take A levels using CAIE, OCR and AQA syllabuses, with subjects varying according to interest and staffing. Alongside exam courses, the school places project work, portfolios and practical responsibility at the centre of its educational model. Boarding life includes shared routines, study, recreation and care for the grounds, with no uniform and a tidy-casual dress code.

Admission is unusually specific to the school's international residential model. Brockwood enrols students aged 14-19, does not take weekly boarders and requires a full-boarding commitment. Applicants from outside the UK may need a visa, while A level students must be 16 at the start of the school year; students can usually choose one to three exam courses, with some subjects dependent on sufficient interest and staffing.
