Bradford Christian School opened in 1993 after 16 pioneering families came together around discipleship and Christian education. It later moved from Idle to a refurbished primary school building at Bolton Woods, where it has grown as a small through school.
The curriculum joins National Curriculum programmes and GCSE syllabuses with faith-integrated courses across Early Years, Primary, Middle and Upper School. The Middle phase reduces repetition while retaining breadth, allowing a three-year GCSE programme to begin in Year 9. The core includes English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Religious Studies and Dual Award Science.
Specialist teachers introduce younger pupils to history, geography, art, science and computing, while Spanish begins in Years 3 and 4. Upper School pupils can take Duke of Edinburgh, a European residential, careers education and service week. Christian Perspectives, assemblies and forum groups carry the Christian approach into PSHE, with counselling and specialist help available through the support base.
Admissions start with a show-around, application and interview. For Years 4 to 8, a Cognitive Ability Test helps the school understand learning needs rather than acting as an entrance exam; a successful assessment may lead to a two- or three-day taster before the final decision. Year groups are normally capped at 12, with combined classes no larger than 25 except in exceptional cases.
