Overview

Islamic study is built into the academic route at Bolton Islamic Girls School. Quran, Fiqh, Aqeedah, Seerah and Hadith sit alongside a girls-only secondary education for ages 11 to 16, with faith, respect and compassion as stated touchstones. The school opened in 2012 at Weston House in Bolton and has no boarding or sixth form.

Years 7 to 11 follow a 28-lesson week, with lessons lasting 55 minutes. English, mathematics and science are joined by Arabic, Urdu, religious education, history, computing, art, design technology, PE, PSHCE and Islamic studies. In Years 10 and 11, the GCSE route includes English Language, English Literature and mathematics, science, and options leading to nine or ten GCSEs. The timetable gives the school a clear balance between national examinations and Islamic teaching.

The November 2024 standard inspection found that all independent-school standards were met, with effective safeguarding. Judgements also covered quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. These findings sit alongside a curriculum that makes the school's faith identity visible in everyday subject choices.

For September 2025, Year 7 had a maximum of 30 places, with separate procedures for other year groups. That is not a standing rule for a new cycle: places, assessments and interview arrangements need confirming for the relevant year.
