Overview

Bethany School has served Sheffield through Christian education since 1987. It is a small co-educational community from the early years to Year 11, organised as the sole school within Christian Family Schools Ltd. Its family-school character is deliberate: parents and teachers are expected to remain closely involved, and the education is shaped around a shared Christian life.

The curriculum is topic-based and developed through a Biblical worldview, with National Curriculum material used for English and mathematics. Reception to Year 9 follow a three-year sequence of themes including Beginnings, Living Things, Communication, Nations and Earth in Space. Years 10 and 11 move to GCSE study, with mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Combined Science and French expected alongside humanities and creative choices.

Christian education organises the rhythm beyond lessons as well. The school aims to develop character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom, while daily routines, family afternoons and extra-curricular clubs keep home and school connected. The result is a participatory model in which the curriculum and the relationships around it are intended to reinforce one another.

Admission is open rather than selective by faith, ability or aptitude, and families do not need to demonstrate that they can fully fund a place. A visit and information pack lead to family discussions, an admissions visit and governors' approval. Places are offered to whole families except in exceptional circumstances; direct entry to Years 10 and 11 is not accepted, and Year 9 applications are exceptional.
