Beis Malka Girls' School

Beis Malka Girls' School brings girls from age 2 to 16 through nursery, Reception, primary and secondary education in Hackney. The youngest provision at Timberwharf Road admits some boys aged two to three, while the main school is girls-only at Alkham Road. Separate early-years sites are therefore part of the school's structure rather than a footnote to it.

The curriculum follows national-curriculum expectations and builds knowledge in sequence. Reading has particular weight through daily stories, phonics, library access and books matched to the sounds pupils are learning. In the secondary phase, pupils meet increasingly complex language and receive targeted support for SEND and for children learning English as an additional language.

A strongly ordered day includes visits to museums, attractions and the seaside, alongside singing, dancing and set design through regular performances. Older pupils have organised a camping trip, while before- and after-school childcare supports registered pupils. Behaviour was exceptionally good in December 2024, with supportive relationships between older and younger pupils; careers guidance begins in the primary phase.

Annual fees are £2,080, but no selective test, year-group deadline or oversubscription rule is established here. The youngest provision has also admitted some boys beyond the registration agreement. The December 2024 overall judgement was Requires Improvement, with Good quality of education and Outstanding behaviour, alongside further work needed in leadership and statutory personal-development provision.
