Beech Grove School

Beech Grove is part of the Beech Grove Bruderhof community, where most pupils live on site and education shares space with worship, service and communal life. The community is an international Christian church, and staff and pupils participate in its religious life. That setting gives the school a distinctive rhythm: learning is joined to practical contribution and a shared way of living rather than kept apart from it.

The senior route is built around language arts, history, maths and science, taught in small classes with individual attention. The high-school diploma has credit requirements equivalent to those of the New York State Regents Diploma, rather than following a conventional GCSE-to-A-level sequence. Computers and internet access are generally reserved for lessons where they have a clear educational purpose, keeping technology within the academic intent of each activity.

Academic mornings lead into afternoons devoted to practical skills and craftsmanship, singing and arts, sport, local work experience, bushcraft, gardening and service. These activities give pupils opportunities to make, perform, work outdoors and contribute to the community. Personal initiative is therefore expressed through the whole pattern of the day, not only through classroom work.

Families begin admission with a visit, meeting teachers and the Head Teacher while the child shadows pupils. Placement is considered each year according to the young person's needs. International senior students in grades 9 to 12 can stay in the boarding house. No entrance-examination timetable is stated here.
