Overview

Bedford Greenacre carries two Bedford histories into one co-educational journey. St Andrew's began in 1896, while Rushmoor moved to Shakespeare Road in 1918 and later developed a sixth form. Their present home is the 40-acre Manton Lane site, with a non-selective route from Reception to Year 13; the nursery serves children from four months to four years at Kimbolton Road.

Post-16 study keeps academic and applied routes together. Students can take A levels, Level 3 courses or Cambridge Technical qualifications, with choices spanning sciences, humanities, languages, creative subjects, law, psychology, sport, business and health and social care. An EPQ adds an independent research option to that range, giving the sixth form more than one way to shape a programme.

Performance and practical experience are prominent in the wider school life. In-house musicals and plays sit alongside music and drama competitions, while residentials begin from Year 2 and subject visits include geography, hospitality, history and a sixth-form trip to Berlin. These experiences make use of the Manton Lane setting while extending learning beyond the classroom.

Entry is handled directly, with separate nursery enquiries and a route for applicants from Reception to Year 13. Families can attend an open morning or arrange a personal visit before registration and a taster day. Taster days include literacy and numeracy assessments and time in lessons with current pupils, after which the Principal communicates the outcome. There is no boarding provision.
