Dance, drama, music and visual arts sit alongside academic study at ArtsEd Day School & Sixth Form. For pupils aged 11 to 19, the co-educational Chiswick setting is defined by the twin demands of qualification work and performance practice. The timetable is designed to hold general education and the arts together.
GCSE options include drama, dance, music, art and design, photography, film studies, classics and statistics alongside the academic core. Sixth Form students can take A levels, a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Acting, Dance or Musical Theatre, or a combination. Practical work, research, rehearsal records and written evaluation make the BTEC route a substantial academic and performance programme.
Dance pupils rehearse for the annual Dance Show, drama students devise and perform, and choirs, the Acting Company and Musical Theatre Company create further opportunities. RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern and Tap examinations, photography, film-making, individual voice or instrumental lessons, London theatre visits and talks from working artists extend the performance week.
Admission is by audition, with Years 7 and 12 as the main entry points and Years 8 and 9 also accepted. Year 10 is not an entry point because key GCSE courses begin in Year 9. Applications require a recent report and supporting educational information where needed, plus a non-refundable audition fee; Sixth Form auditions vary by pathway and may include monologues, workshops, singing, dance, portfolios or interviews.
