Argyle House School

Argyle House brings nursery, prep and senior pupils into one co-educational day-school community. Its history reaches back to 1884, with the move to Thornhill Park in 1969 and the introduction of co-education in 1996 shaping the present school. The younger years and Senior School share a home, while the secondary phase remains focused on the years from 11 to 16.

Senior pupils work towards GCSEs in a setting that combines classroom teaching with sport and extra-curricular activity. The school does not extend into a sixth form or boarding provision, so the final years have a clear secondary focus. That focus sits alongside the nursery and prep departments while retaining a distinct secondary rhythm.

Applications are made directly to Argyle House. Assessment is arranged for the intended year, with around 20 Year 7 places and occasional availability elsewhere. Entry depends on the school being able to meet a child's needs and the child contributing positively to the community. There is no shared selective test.

Argyle House has continuity with a defined senior endpoint: children can start young and remain through GCSE, while the 11-16 phase has its own pace and curriculum. The balance between the shared setting and the focused Senior School is central to the school's character.
