At a glance
ACS Egham International School runs an international curriculum through the Woodlee mansion and its wooded Surrey grounds. Pupils move through the International Baccalaureate continuum rather than a British grammar-school sequence, giving this all-through day school a different educational structure from the outset.
In the Upper School, the IB Middle Years Programme leads to the IB Diploma Programme or IB Career-related Programme at 16. An accredited US High School Diploma also underpins Grades 9 to 12. Specialist science, art, design technology and computer spaces, an IB centre, a performing arts centre and indoor and outdoor sport give those routes a substantial physical home.
Direct applications can be made throughout the year when places are available. Grade placement, the admissions review and the way a planned university destination treats the IB, Career-related or US Diploma route matter more than a conventional Year 7 comparison. International continuity to Grade 12, framed by the mansion and woodland campus, is the school's central proposition.
Applications are accepted throughout the year and pupils may start mid-year, subject to acceptance and grade availability. There is no entrance exam. Each applicant is reviewed individually using previous school records, references, questionnaires, standardised scores and relevant learning, language or medical evidence. Applicants must have the right to study in the UK. No Year 7 intake number is published.
Independent schools do not use the local-authority grammar-school catchment model; check the school site for boarding, transport and eligibility rules.
Right to study in the UK
Applicants must have the right to study in the UK and provide the relevant passport and visa evidence before entry.
Holistic application review
Previous school records, teacher references, questionnaires and standardised test scores are reviewed together; there is no entrance exam.
Learning and language support needs
Relevant IEP, psychological, therapy, language and medical reports are considered to confirm that the available provision can support the applicant.
Grade availability
A successful applicant is offered a place when the requested grade has capacity; otherwise the applicant may be waitlisted until a place becomes available.
There is no general entrance examination. Grades 5-12 applications are reviewed using school records, references, questionnaires and available standardised scores. EAL testing may be required, with English proficiency requirements identified from Grade 8, and other additional assessment is arranged only when the individual application review shows it is needed.
Paper 1
Holistic application review
The review considers previous school records, references, questionnaire answers and available standardised test scores, together with relevant learning, language or medical reports.
Paper 2
English
Conditional Grades 5-12 EAL assessment
EAL testing may be required for applicants to Grades 5-12; the FAQ identifies English proficiency requirements from Grade 8, but no test format or threshold is published.
Paper 3
Conditional additional assessment
If the application review identifies that further testing is needed, parents may be required to arrange and fund an additional assessment before a final decision; this is not a universal entrance test.
English is listed across the school's published assessment routes.
