Knowledge, character and contribution organise the secondary education at Abu Bakr Boys School. Boys in Years 7 to 11 study in a setting where academic work is connected to conduct, self-discipline and character formation rooted in the Qur'an and Sunnah. The five-year course has a religious and developmental purpose alongside GCSE preparation.
The academic programme covers the standard secondary subjects, with Qur'an and Islamic studies forming a substantial faith curriculum. An optional Hifz route is available. Citizenship, careers, visits and community projects add practical and civic dimensions, while the school remains separate from its partner technical college.
Admission is direct to the school. The place of Islamic study in the timetable, the Hifz option, GCSE combinations and assessment route all affect the experience a boy will have from Year 7. It is a particular model of secondary education, joining qualifications, religious learning and community service.

Applications are made directly for boys aged 11-16. All new pupils sit English and Mathematics entrance examinations and must achieve the required standard; eligible applications are considered on individual merit, with sibling priority and admission subject to available places. Successful applicants then attend a Head Teacher interview with a parent or guardian. In-year entry is considered when places allow, while Year 11 entry is exceptional. The policy was reviewed on 29 August 2025 and is due for review on 29 August 2026. Its current maximum of 100 pupils is a whole-school figure, not a Year 7 intake number.
Independent schools do not use the local-authority grammar-school catchment model; check the school site for boarding, transport and eligibility rules.
