Registration & access arrangements

Registering for one school does not enter your child for either of the other exams. For 2027 entry, all three schools have completed their entrance tests.

Ask the relevant school about access arrangements. St Michael’s also requires faith documents where applicable; these form part of its application, rather than the council’s CAF.

    RESULTS & ELIGIBILITY

    Each school applies its own criteria

    • QE225 is the minimum combined age-standardised score for eligibility in 2027. Offers depend on rank for 180 places; reaching 225 does not guarantee one.
    • Henrietta BarnettThe top 300 from round one, including ties at the cut-off, are invited to round two. Final admissions follow the school’s priority and ranking rules for 120 places.
    • St Michael’sThere are 128 places. Catholic-practice criteria and test ranking apply; read the 2027 policy before assessing eligibility.

    Henrietta Barnett’s GL materials cover round one. St Michael’s supplies multiple-choice familiarisation but no English sample paper. QE does not publish past entrance-test papers.

    GOOD TO KNOW

    A few common questions

    Is there a shared Barnet 11+ test?

    No. QE, Henrietta Barnett and St Michael’s run separate entrance exams. Register directly with each relevant school; results do not transfer between them.

    Which Barnet grammar schools have two test rounds?

    Henrietta Barnett has two rounds: English and reasoning first, then English and maths. QE and St Michael’s each have a single entrance-test stage.

    Are GL sample papers the actual school exam papers?

    No. QE and Henrietta Barnett link to general GL familiarisation. QE warns that these may differ from its test, and HBS links them for round one. Use St Michael’s own familiarisation page for its multiple-choice tests.

    Does St Michael’s have a multiple-choice English test?

    No. Its English paper requires written answers. The other tests are multiple choice; the school does not provide an English familiarisation paper.

    Does passing a test guarantee a place?

    No. Each school applies its own admissions criteria. QE’s eligibility score, HBS’s round-two invitation and St Michael’s test ranking have different meanings. You must also submit your home council’s school application.
